Method 1Substitute
The step by step process involved in solving Equations in NCERT Class 8 Maths is explained in this chapter. A student can solve equations in this manner by using a substitute for which a particular product is explained.
Then all the four products are used for solving the equations. Method 2Using Teacups and Spoons As shown in the picture in the NCERT books, a student learns the number of teacups and spoons needed for solving the same equation and these teacups and spoons are used in the normal manner to solve the same equation.
Finding the sum
For finding the sum, there are two parts to calculating the sum. There is the mental number which we will refer to as the unknown part which we are trying to figure out the value of. So this is also called the inverse of the unknown. In the equation shown in the first step, the unknown is Bx1 and the 2 is known as x1.
So that part is the sum of x1 and the unknown x1, and we have 2x1 = Bx1 + x1. This equation is multiplied by itself and we get 0. What is the value of 0? Now that we have the value of the unknown, what is the value of x1? Again this is the inverse of the unknown. Now when we multiply the unknown by itself, we get 1. So 1 is the value of 0. So we find out the value of the unknown. 1 is the value of 0x1.
